Your electrical installation consists of two parts. The fixed wiring - fuseboard, cables, switches and sockets. Your appliances - hoovers, kettles and anything else you plug in around the home.
Fixed wiring testing
An inspection of the fixed wiring is often called a periodic inspection. You will receive a written report called an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report). This will tell you if the installation is satisfactory or unsatisfactory and may make recommendations for improvement.
What does is cost?
We have a very simple charging system for EICRs. £75 plus £15 per circuit.
So if you have a consumer unit with five circuits it would cost £150.
When is a periodic inspection required?
An electrical installation should be inspected and tested
every 10 years in your own home
if you are preparing your property for letting
before selling your property or buying a previously-occupied property
We can also test your appliances. This is called PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) and costs £3 per item.
